The Deceiving War

Once there was a young man
His future still an undecided factor
He made up his mind
To be his own man
Turned his back on
Old beliefs

Throwing wisdom aside
He foolishly thought
Modern humanist thinking
Would prove the real thing

He was born into a world
Engaged in a ferocious war
Every living soul was enrolled
Two sides
Light and darkness

This young man
Stumbled into semi-darkness
Where he thought he was in charge
Like a soldier wandering
Into no mans land
Thinking he was safe

Captured by an unseen enemy
Disbelieving the reality of this war
He was shot down
Tortured
All the while confessing
Its not real

But this deceiving war
Started before earth began
And will continue till its end
Where the physical world
Is the interface
Of a spiritual reality

The question is…
Will this young man
Choose sides and fight
Like a brave soldier
Or wander a prisoner
In deception the rest of his days

The Captain of Light
Is calling you
To Join His cause
You were born
To be a hero

Christmas day

Its Christmas today
In every house
in every town

In houses with rooms
Too numerous to count
And houses made of tin
With only one room to see

In some homes
Christmas cost
More than a middle class
mans’ year wages

In some homes
Christmas meant
They had food to eat
Which was more than
they dared to hope for

There is one thing
That Christmas
in every home
in every town
has in common

Everyone can freely
receive an eternity
Free from heartache,
pain and death

If they choose to receive
The Christ of Christmas.
The gift of the Father
To whoever wants it.

No earthly gift
Comes near

image

No money can buy
True joy, peace
And Love….which will last
For eternity.

Matthew 16:25-27

25 For whoever wants to save their life will lose it, but whoever loses their life for me will find it. 26 What good will it be for someone to gain the whole world, yet forfeit their soul? Or what can anyone give in exchange for their soul? 27 For the Son of Man is going to come in his Father’s glory with his angels, and then he will reward each person according to what they have done.

Constant Love

Do you see a newborn lamb
Suckling his mum with his tail wagging
If he knew how short his life would be
Would he suckle less joyfully?

Life is unpredictable
The Only thing constant is Love.

But His love is not how we sometimes want it.
Its not always felt or seen in what happens in this life.

So by faith we hold on to a Constant
Eternal love that we believe in no matter how much suffering and pain our earthly lives endure.

Constant, unchanging
Willing to suffer on our behalf
He knows unbelievable pain
He knows the depths of dispair
He knows the sting of unfaithfulness
He knows us
Yet…He loves us.

If like lambs we can suckle from Him
For as a mother cares for her young
So He cares for us.

Regardless of what the future holds
Refuse to let fear separate us from love

For life is unpredictable
But love….Love is constant no matter what.

Being one

There is a place
Where I fully rest
But to be there
I have to lay myself down

Its a willing surrender
Of an unwilling soul
Desires that fight for dominance
Which one will win this time

It takes effort
Concentrated focus
To realize what leads me away
As I battle fiercely to get to that place

But the battle is quickly forgotten
When I enter in
When love envelopes me
I’m overcome with joy

Why is it so hard?
When nothing can compare to it
When every other desire is like an empty egg shell

But in Him
One with Him
There is everything
I am completely and utterly
Fulfilled

I am the vine and you are the branches. Whoever remains in Me and I in him will bear much fruit for without Me you can do nothing. John 15:5

Love and Fire

Love is often described the same as a fire
Burning, passionate, consuming
Hot….

But maybe love is a fire.

It burns in the heart of man
For good or for evil
To uplift or to destroy

It needs something to keep it burning
It needs to be carefully nurtured or it will die

Sometimes it consumes the flesh as LOVE greater than yourself becomes your reality.

Sometimes its inspired by a lie or two and it consumes you, destroying your life

So be a firefighter and extinguish the flames of false loves that can lead you astray

But at the same time continuously zealously guard
the fire of true LOVE for the One and Only in your heart
and feed it the things it needs to burn….

For LOVE is a fire…a consuming fire…a jealous fire…

The Electronic Love Affair

He walks in the cold and the dark
His hand caressing the little light
His electronic device forever near

Like a man in love
Nothing else is seen or heard
His desire so strong
To check, to see something,
Anything

The hard, cold screen
Gives no warmth for his cold hands
It answers not his silent cry
His loneliness intense
As he engages with this mistress

There is a man with fiery eyes
He knocks inside a door
Hidden in a deep place
Within the man’s breast
To engage with Him
Now that would be a change

If only he could put it down
Close his eyes and look
To find a Lover that is true
But his electronic mistress
Has gripped him in distraction
And he recognizes not the
hungry desire in him for more

To know HIM who could
set him on fire
True love and happiness would be his
Alas he will never find them
Unless he turns from the idol he caresses with his fingertips

So for now
He walks alone in the dark
But the fire longs
To be set alight within him
To burn him up with
Eternal LOVE.

People

They hurry up the aisles
Transitioning from work to living
Need to buy some food
Just a little time left of the day
The house has been empty for too many hours
Another day has gone away
Slipping between their fingers
Like sand in an hourglass
Where is the mission
The passion of their lives?
As they shuffle down the aisles
Avoiding eye contact at all costs
Buying empty bread just like their empty lives.

Tadpoles and Caterpillars

This goes with the Butterfly story

Mike Parsons
with Jeremy Westcott –

[We] are being transformed into the same image from one degree of glory to another (2 Cor 3:18).

We are to be transformed into the image of Jesus. As John the Baptist said, “He must increase, but I must decrease” (John 3:30). He adds to me what is like Him, and He takes away from me what is not like Him.

And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, so that you may prove what the will of God is, that which is good and acceptable and perfect (Rom 12:2).

Metamorphosis

Transformation (the Greek word is metamorphosis) is a change from one form into another, such as a caterpillar into a butterfly or a tadpole into a frog. It is not something which happens just on the surface. The kind of transformation God…

Transformation

When your a caterpillar life is pretty straightforward
You focus on stuffing yourself….literally
You have no care to contribute to society
Life is all about me…me….me

But sometimes something amazing happens
Placed in the heart of a selfish caterpillar
The desire for change…
A desire for the impossible…
Transformation

There’s only one snag
Transformation requires death…

Stillness is the start
Where you hear the whispers
Discern the intent, the themes
Of the things in your heart
Then courage to face it
Not to run, not to hide

To surrender to the death
That’s infusing into you
Allowing yourself to be cocooned
By Desire more powerful
Than the love of self preservation

In a moment
You feel passion stirring
Like fire in your veins
Something you’ve NEVER felt
You come alive

Something has to break
Old habits, desires, friendships
Your past strangling to hold you
Exhausted you wonder if you’ll make it
Blood flows…

Suddenly you feel the SUN
And you know something has changed
You feel light almost weightless
A soft breeze touches you
What’s this on your back?
Its brilliant colors startle you

Again you wait…
Moments come together
You remember what you where
But you are that no longer
Who you are now….
Remains for you to discover

You’ve been transformed…
