Guarded Eyes

I catch his eye
The stranger walking by
Hoping to glimpse
His soul

His outer look
Proclaims a type
An image like wrapping
But how often
The wrapping disguises
The essence of spirit

I look into his eyes
But he glances away
We’ve learned long ago
Not to let a stranger
Look into us for long

We’ve learned to guard
Hang curtains
Nail boards over our windows
The windows to our souls

I glance into her eyes
And she looks right in
Smiles appear on both of us
As souls say hello
Friendliness and interest
You’re a person
I see you

Those moments are worth
Searching for
For to see inside a person
Is to see uniqueness
Exquisite created wonder
The crown of creation.

I'm an author who loves to write stories that inspire and uplift others. I started writing novels five years ago during a difficult time of my life. Fanning the flame of a lifelong passion for stories into real life novels brought me into a new season of my life. At present writing is not my fulltime job yet. I'm a full time mother and strive to keep my priorities the right way around. I hope you enjoy the stories I have written so far. They are gifts from my house to yours. Enjoy.
